  • Defended an international energy company against thousands of personal injury lawsuits following an oil spill resulting in thousands of dismissals based upon effective use of scientific and medical evidence.
  • Defended an international joint venture against thousands of claims following a chemical release in a densely populated area. The defense succeeded in removing the environmental exposure case to federal court, and secured a defense verdict on liability.
  • Defended an international company in a multi-week trial in state court in Orleans Parish. Thousands of plaintiffs claimed personal injury as a result of alleged chemical exposure in an urban area. Through the use of expert witnesses and effective cross-examinations of the plaintiffs’ witnesses, the trial team was able to undermine the exaggerated claims and secured a defense verdict on liability.
  • Prevailed in hundreds of Daubert motions striking unreliable expert testimony on scientific and medical causation issues, ultimately resulting in dismissal of those lawsuits.
  • Defended an international energy company against claims for alleged oilfield contamination resulting from decades of oil and gas production via development of scientific evidence.
  • Prevailed in securing insurance coverage for clients in litigation ranging from catastrophic events to construction damage to environmental exposure to marine operations.
  • Successful pursuit of CERCLA cost recovery claims for an international energy company.
  • Defense of major commercial real estate holdings in residential mold claims.

After Hours

Charles is an accomplished international outdoorsman and fisherman ­and an ardent conservationist. His travels have led him from the tidal marshes of Louisiana to the turquoise flats of Belize to the high grass of much of Southern Africa.
