New Shareholder Kathryn Gonski Recognized as One to Watch in Law

Kathryn Gonski was acknowledged by New Orleans CityBusiness as “One to Watch” in Law. She was recognized for her appellate practice and involvement in the energy industry. Kathryn’s appellate practice regularly includes cases before the Louisiana courts of appeal, the Louisiana Supreme Court, and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal.  Her practice focuses on complex litigation, including environmental, energy, employment, and oil and gas matters. Kathryn is also frequently retained to write amicus briefs on behalf of businesses and trade organizations in matters of industry-wide significance.

For the second year in a row, Kathryn served as Co-Chair of the Institute for Energy Law’s National Young Energy Professionals’ Law Conference in New Orleans. She is a member of the Women’s Energy Network and was recently named a “Top Lawyer” by New Orleans Magazine. She was also named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers. 

Kathryn received her Juris Doctor from Loyola University College of Law, summa cum laude, and was a member of the Loyola Law Review editorial board and a William L. Crowe Scholar.

Trinity Brown Joins Liskow & Lewis

Liskow is pleased to announce Trinity Brown has joined the firm as an energy litigator in the firm’s New Orleans office. Trinity has experience representing clients in contract disputes, tort claims, and oil and gas disputes. She also has experience with First Amendment issues, securities fraud, and trademark infringement.

Trinity received her Juris Doctor from Yale Law School, and her Bachelor of Arts from Duke University, cum laude. She was a member of the Worker and Immigrant Rights Advocacy Clinic and the San Francisco Affirmative Litigation Project at Yale Law School and a Reginaldo Howard Memorial Scholar and a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow at Duke University. 

After graduating from Yale Law, Trinity was a law clerk to The Honorable Myron H. Thompson, U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama.

Liskow is pleased to congratulate Tiffany Davis and Shannon Holtzman for being selected to New Orleans CityBusiness’ Leadership in Law Class of 2018.

CityBusiness spotlights several of Greater New Orleans’ most prominent leaders in the legal field in its annual Leadership in Law selection. The honorees include 50 area attorneys, court-associated professionals, and educators who have established themselves as leaders through their distinctive professional contributions and community involvement.

Tiffany Delery Davis

Tiffany is a litigator focused on complex energy-related matters concerning maritime and oilfield torts and contracts, environmental cleanup, property damage, and coastal erosion. Tiffany also handles toxic tort litigation related to claims for occupational exposure to asbestos. She also has experience with regulatory and transactional matters concerning environmental and energy law.

Tiffany serves as the Chair of Liskow & Lewis’ Diversity Committee, and is active in several professional and community organizations. She serves on the Board of Directors of the New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, and on the Board of Directors for the New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute. She is Co-Chair of the New Orleans Bar Association’s Oil & Gas Committee, and a Fellow of the Louisiana Bar Foundation. Tiffany devotes significant time to community service at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church and School as a parish religious education instructor and summer camp volunteer. Tiffany is a Board Member of Edward Hynes Charter School PTO and holds troop leadership positions with Girl Scouts, Louisiana East, Inc., and Boy Scouts of America, Southeast Louisiana Council.

Tiffany is AV Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubbell in Litigation, Admiralty and Maritime Law, and Natural Resources. She was recognized by New Orleans Magazine in 2017 as a “Top Lawyer,” and she was selected to the New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute Class of 2017. Tiffany received her Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School in 2005.

Shannon Skelton Holtzman

Shannon has more than 25 years’ experience devoted exclusively to business litigation and appellate matters involving complex contract disputes and business torts such as unfair trade practice claims, fraud, and trade secret-related claims. She also handles construction contract-related disputes and helps project owners with respect to risk management issues and compliance with the Louisiana Private Works Act.  

Shannon is a member of Everytown for Gun Safety and serves as the Legislative Advocacy Lead for the Louisiana Chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. She is on the Board of Sophie B. Wright Charter School and she is very active in St. Charles Ave. Presbyterian Church where she serves on the church’s governing board and other committees and participates in community outreach events.

Shannon has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America in Commercial Litigation since 2013. She is listed in Louisiana Super Lawyers and she was selected by New Orleans Magazine as a “Top Lawyer” in Appellate Practice, Commercial Litigation, and Construction Law.

Shannon serves on Liskow & Lewis’ Board of Directors, Diversity Committee, and Associate Committee, and she is the Assistant Leader of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group.

Cody J. Miller Joins Liskow & Lewis

C.J. received his Juris Doctor and Diploma of Comparative Law from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Louisiana State University, summa cum laude. C.J. was the recipient of the CALI Award for the Highest Grade Achieved in the Class for 26 individual classes, and he received the 2016 Association Henri Capitant Award for an Outstanding Comment on a Civil or Comparative Law Topic.

James Brown Named Distinguished Achievement Honoree by LSU Law Center

Liskow is pleased to announce James A. Brown has been named a Distinguished Achievement honoree by the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center. James will be honored at a ceremony in New Orleans on March 2.

LSU Law Center’s Distinguished Achievement Award is given annually to graduates for professional achievement and career distinction, service to and support of LSU Law, and service to the community.

James is a 1984 graduate of the Paul M. Hebert LSU Law Center and holds an undergraduate degree from LSU in Political Science. He supports the Law Center in various ways, including serving as a member of the Dean’s Council and as an adjunct professor.

James is a shareholder in Liskow & Lewis’ New Orleans office, heading the firm’s Commercial Litigation Section as well as its Professional Liability Practice Group. He is an experienced trial lawyer handling complex litigation throughout the courts of Louisiana and the U.S., with a focus on banking, contract and professional liability disputes. A Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, he has a national reputation in key areas of complex litigation: legal malpractice defense, director and officer liability, antitrust, trusts and estates litigation, First Amendment and Education Law. 

For over three decades, James has represented federal banking agencies and banks in complex commercial and professional liability cases.  He also has defended national legal malpractice carriers and law and accounting firms, and has handled trust and estates litigation and other types of commercial claims and disputes.  James has tried difficult, high-stakes cases in these areas in both state and federal courts.

James serves on the New Orleans Ethics Review Board by appointment of the Mayor. The Board administers and enforces the New Orleans Code of Governmental Ethics and appoints and oversees the New Orleans Inspector General.

He is listed by Chambers USA – America’s Leading Lawyers for Business as among America’s top commercial litigators. James is also named in Best Lawyers in America in the areas of Bet-the-Company Litigation, Commercial Litigation, Legal Malpractice Law, Litigation – Antitrust, Litigation – Trusts and Estates, and Professional Malpractice Law. He is listed among Top Lawyers by New Orleans Magazine, and New Orleans CityBusiness named him one of New Orleans’ “Leaders in Law.”

Following law school, James served as law clerk to the Honorable Alvin B. Rubin, Circuit Judge, United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, 1984-85. Since 1992, he has served as an Adjunct Professor in Torts and Trial Advocacy at the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center.
