Kelly Scalise Elected to National Board of Directors of the Federal Bar Association

Kelly Scalise, a shareholder in the  New Orleans office of Liskow, has been elected to the National Board of Directors of the Federal Bar Association.

Kelly will be sworn in at the Federal Bar Association’s 2017 Annual Meeting and Convention on September 16 during the organization’s National Council Meeting.

She has held numerous positions with the Federal Bar Association since 2001, including Admiralty Law Section, Chair and Co-Founder (2015-2017); New Orleans Chapter President (2016-2017); Younger Lawyers Division, Chair; Law Student Division Task Force Co-Chair;  Section and Division Council; Thurgood Marshall Moot Court Competition Co-Director; and The Federal Lawyer Editorial Board.

Kelly’s practice focuses on claims on behalf of international and domestic clients in the energy sector.  She represents business entities, both defending and asserting claims involving: admiralty, insurance and indemnity issues, tort defense, products liability, personal injuries, offshore drilling, and legacy contamination. She has represented clients in admiralty and land-based tort actions and other complex litigation.

The Federal Bar Association, founded in 1920, is dedicated to the advancement of the science of jurisprudence and to promoting the welfare, interests, education, and professional development of all attorneys involved in federal law. Our members run the gamut of federal practice: attorneys practicing in small to large legal firms, attorneys in corporations and federal agencies, and members of the judiciary. The FBA is the catalyst for communication between the bar and the bench, as well as the private and public sectors.

­Liskow is pleased to announce Tyler Trew was awarded the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Pro Bono Century Award. The award was presented to Tyler at the Pro Bono Publico & Children’s Law Awards Ceremony, which was held at the Louisiana Supreme Court on May 23.

The Louisiana State Bar Association’s Century Award is presented to those extraordinary attorneys who have demonstrated exemplary commitment to the ideals of their profession by providing over 100 hours of volunteer pro bono services during the past calendar year through an established pro bono organization.

Dana Douglas Selected as a 2017 Public Service Award Recipient

Dana Douglas has been selected by The Gillis Long Poverty Law Center at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law as a 2017 Public Service Award recipient. Each year, the Center presents awards to Loyola students, faculty, staff, and alumni who have demonstrated a commitment to social justice. 

Dana is active in professional and community organizations, and holds various leadership positions. Dana is a Charter and Founding Member of the Louisiana Chapter of the Women’s Energy Network, the Immediate Past President of the Greater New Orleans Louis A. Martinet Society, the President-Elect for the New Orleans Bar Association, and the Chair of the 28th Annual Justice For All Ball. 

Dana received her Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. She focuses her practice at Liskow & Lewis on commercial, energy and intellectual property litigation in the state and federal courts of Louisiana and across a wide variety of industry sectors.
