Edward Duhé, Jr., Houston

Edward Duhé focuses on complex energy litigation, renewable energy, climate change, and carbon capture and sequestration. Edward also practices in technology related fields, such as cybersecurity, data breach, data security law, and eDiscovery. Since joining the firm, Edward has handled all aspects of litigation. He most often represents Fortune 500 companies in environmental litigation and labor and employment litigation, including efficiently managing voluminous eDiscovery using Technology Assisted Review (TAR). He has extensive experience in all aspects of discovery, including coordinating with clients’ litigation departments, directing and consulting with vendors, and hiring and managing teams of contract attorneys.

Edward is currently focused on representing major oil and gas clients in land contamination and coastal land loss litigation. He has significant experience working with expert witnesses applying state regulations to oil and gas exploration and production sites. Edward is a member of the Institute for Energy Law (“IEL”) and was selected to join the 4th IEL Leadership Class. Edward earned his Juris Doctor from Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Louisiana State University, magna cum laude, and he is admitted to practice law in Texas and Louisiana.

Jackie Hickman, New Orleans

Jackie Hickman defends global exploration and production companies in a wide range of environmental and operational matters, including well-blowouts, legacy litigation, commercial disputes, expropriation/condemnation matters, and mass tort/exposure cases. As part of her practice, Jackie has managed all aspects of complex energy litigation from initial discovery through trial and appeal. Jackie has significant trial experience acting as second-chair of multiple mass-tort trials, conducting direct and cross examination of witnesses, and arguing motions and evidentiary objections. Jackie has also had significant success at the appellate level, including researching and writing successful briefs to Louisiana appellate courts and the U.S. Fifth Circuit.

Jackie is a member of the Institute for Energy Law (“IEL”) and was selected to join the inaugural IEL Leadership Class.  Jackie earned her Juris Doctor and Degree in Comparative Law from the Paul M. Liskow Welcomes Six Associates

Claire David is a member of the firm’s Business Transactions practice group in the Lafayette office. Prior to joining the firm, Claire clerked for several law firms conducting legal research and preparing memorandums on areas such as tax, estate planning, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and employee benefits. Claire graduated first in her class from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2021.

Kendall Dicke is a member of the firm’s Maritime, Oilfield and Insurance practice group in the Houston office. Kendall received his Juris Doctor and Graduate Diploma in Comparative Law, cum laude, from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Louisiana State University in 2021. During law school, he was an extern to the Honorable Shelly Dick, Chief Judge for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana. As a 3L, Kendall served as Articles Editor of the Louisiana Law Review and the Vice President of the Maritime & Admiralty Law Society.

Nicholas Mole is a member of the firm’s Toxic Tort and Environmental Litigation practice group in the New Orleans office. Nick received his Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, cum laude. Prior to joining Liskow & Lewis, Nick was the senior prosecutor in Section F of the Criminal District Court for the Parish of Orleans. In this role, Nick managed a caseload of almost 200 open felony cases; in each of those matters, he was fully responsible for handling all stages of prosecution, from arraignment through trial.

John Parker is a member of the firm’s Energy practice group in the Lafayette office. John received his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Louisiana State University in 2021. While there, he served as an extern to the Honorable John w. deGravelles of the Middle District of Louisiana and as senior editor for the Journal of Energy Law and Resources. 

George Rochelle is a member of the firm's Toxic Tort and Environmental Litigation practice group in the New Orleans office. Prior to joining the firm, he was an intern to the Honorable L. Liskow Commemorates National Hispanic Heritage Month

Liskow, the Diversity Committee, and I.D.E.A.L. (Interoffice Diversity Engagement at Liskow) wish to recognize National Hispanic Heritage Month, which began on September 15 and runs through October 15. National Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes and celebrates the cultures, histories, and contributions of Americans of Spanish, Mexican, Caribbean, and Central and South American ancestry.

National Hispanic Heritage Month originated under President Lyndon Johnson in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week.  In 1988, President Ronald Reagan expanded Hispanic Heritage Week into a month-long observance.  On August 17, 1988, Public Law 100-402 authorized the formal designation of September 15 through October 15 as National Hispanic Heritage Month.

Several important anniversaries and holidays are observed during the month.  September 15 is the anniversary for the independence of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua.  Mexico’s independence is celebrated on September 16.  Chile’s independence is celebrated on September 18.  Additionally, Día de la Raza is observed on the second Monday in October.

In his September 14, 2021, Proclamation on National Hispanic Heritage Month, President Biden explained that “[d]uring National Hispanic Heritage Month, we recognize that Hispanic heritage is American heritage” and remarked that the month “is an important reminder of how much strength we draw as a Nation from our immigrant roots and our values as a Nation of immigrants.”

Liskow Shareholder, Laura Brown, Named to CityBusiness’ Women of the Year Class of 2021

Liskow is pleased to congratulate Laura Brown for her selection to the New Orleans CityBusiness’ Women of the Year Class of 2021. Laura is being recognized for her legal experience as well as her work in the community. She is a shareholder in the firm’s New Orleans office focusing on energy and environmental litigation, and she is a frequent writer and presenter on Louisiana’s nationally significant coastal land loss litigation.
 
Laura represents energy clients—from small midstream entities to the largest E&P companies in the world—in both state and federal court and in state regulatory proceedings. She promotes legal scholarship through her long-time involvement with the Institute for Energy Law, including serving as a former Managing Editor of IEL’s magazine for young professionals. Laura was recognized for her experience in “Litigation – Environmental” in the 2022 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. For the past four years, Louisiana Super Lawyers has selected her as a “Rising Star,” and New Orleans Magazine has recognized her as a “Top Lawyer.” Laura is committed to helping those who cannot afford legal services, and her pro bono work throughout the years has run the gamut from handling paternity, interdiction, and TPR matters for The Pro Bono Project and the Orleans Public Defenders to volunteerism with the New Orleans Civil District Court’s Domestic Self-Help Desk and the H.E.L.P. program providing legal services to New Orleans’ homeless citizens.

Laura is an advocate for diversity in the legal industry and makes meaningful contributions to the advancement of women through her service as President-Elect of the Women’s Energy Network – South Louisiana Chapter, an organization promoting career development for women who work in the energy sector. She has previously served on the WEN-SLA Board as Public & Industry Relations Director (2020) and as Community Initiatives Director (2018-2019), where she led WEN’s community outreach in promoting STEM education and access to educational supplies for local elementary school students. Laura will lead the Chapter as its President in 2022. 

In her personal life, Laura is active in her church community at Christ Church Cathedral and she participates in the cultural and creative life of the city through writing. She is a member of a Nashville-based songwriting organization and is a published author of short fiction. 
 
Started in 1999, Women of the Year recognizes 50 women from the area whose successes in business and contributions to the community have made them movers and shakers in the region. She also has experience with First Amendment issues, securities fraud, and trademark infringement. Trinity has been recognized for her practice by The National Black Lawyers’ organization as a National Black Lawyer Top 40 Under 40. She has also been recognized for her dedication to providing legal services to those unable to pay. Trinity was the inaugural recipient of the Liskow & Lewis Pro Bono Award, an award created to recognize the attorneys who make significant pro bono contributions. She was also honored as a finalist for the Louisiana State Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Pro Bono Award.

Liskow Attorney Robert Theriot Wins $62 Million Arbitration Award in Royalty Dispute

Robert Theriot, serving as lead trial counsel for Tri-Star Petroleum Company, won a $62 million arbitration award for additional overriding royalties against producing affiliates of Santos Ltd. Tri-Star, a Houston based oil and gas exploration company, initially discovered and continues to hold interests in several coal seam gas fields in Queensland, Australia. Tri-Star claimed that Santos undervalued royalties due on gas produced and sold through Santos’ Gladstone LNG export project. The dispute, governed by Texas law under the parties’ royalty contract, involved several complex issues of Texas oil and gas and royalty law. After a multi-day hearing in Houston, the arbitrator awarded Tri-Star the full amount sought for additional royalties on the LNG project gas. The award has since been collected in full. Santos was represented by Vinson & Elkins. Related court proceedings are in the matter Tri-Star Petroleum Co. v. Santos TPY Corp et. al, No. 2019-61685 (129th JDC, Harris Cty., TX).
