Overview

During his nearly 40 years of practice as a commercial litigator, George Denegre has tried cases in federal and state courts, before federal and state administrative agencies and in arbitrations. His wide-ranging practice includes securities fraud, professional liability, intellectual property, franchise, and other complex litigation. Additionally, he has represented automobile manufacturers/distributors in dozens of matters before the Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission.

George’s representative matters include the following:

  • Part of team that represented a major baby products manufacturer in an eight-day trial in the Western District of Louisiana.   The Liskow team secured a judgment invalidating their opponent’s utility patent based for obviousness and established that the opposing party had engaged in deceit and “reprehensible” conduct during the litigation, resulting in the dismissal of all  other  claims against our clients based on unclean hands. (W.D.La. 2022)
  • Was lead trial counsel for a major energy producer in a U.S. Department of Interior administrative hearing that resulted in the reversal of over one million dollars in penalties imposed by the Office of Natural Resources and Revenue arising out of two federal royalty audits (2017).
  • Part of a team that defended a regional brokerage firm against claims by investors for losses of over $350 million arising out of the sale of mortgage backed securities. (W.D.La. 2017)
  • With other attorneys, secured a $33 million settlement on behalf of the FDIC in a major director and officer case arising out of the failure of Westernbank Puerto Rico. FDIC v. Stipes (D.P.R. 2015).
