Liskow & Lewis is pleased to congratulate Laura Brown and Alma Shields for their selection to the Institute for Energy Law’s 2nd IEL Leadership Class. Forty energy professionals were selected to join this class.
Laura Brown is an energy and environmental litigation attorney, with emphasis on high-stakes “legacy” and coastal land loss litigation. Laura defends oil and gas clients—from small midstream entities to the largest E&P companies in the world—in both state and federal court and in state regulatory proceedings. She has written and presented on the nationally significant topic of Louisiana’s coastal litigation at conferences and CLEs in Louisiana and Texas. Laura serves on the board of the Women’s Energy Network – South Louisiana Chapter, and is a member of the Young Energy Professionals division of IEL.
Alma Shields is a business and energy litigator representing a variety of clients in complex matters and contractual disputes. For her clients in the oil and gas industry, she handles matters, including general contractual disputes, indemnification, royalty disputes, trespass, and conversion matters. Her experience is concentrated on appeals, as well as trials and alternative dispute resolution. Alma is the Sponsorship Chair for the Women’s Energy Network – Houston Chapter, President-elect of the Friends of CanCare, and a member of the Young Energy Professionals division of IEL.
While many of the class members work in oil and gas litigation and transactions, several also have experience in areas such as environmental, toxic tort, construction, intellectual property, maritime, renewables, mining, power, and much more. Class members are dedicated to the communities in which they live and their pro bono efforts. Visit IEL’s website to learn more about this year’s class.
