Liskow & Lewis is pleased to congratulate Tommy McGoey for being selected to New Orleans CityBusiness’ Leadership in Law Class of 2019. Tommy is being recognized for his Labor & Employment practice, commitment to the firm, community and professional involvement, and awards and achievements.
TOMMY’S PRACTICE
Tommy is a go-to labor and employment lawyer with experience throughout Louisiana and the U.S. He helps employers across a wide range of industries with contentious human resources claims and issues, both inside and outside the courtroom. He has 31 years of litigation experience, 24 of which have been devoted to labor and employment. Tommy handles difficult cases in federal and state trial and appellate courts, and arbitrations. He also counsels employers on compliance with a myriad of employment laws related to hiring decisions, compensation, discipline, termination, reductions in force and responding to catastrophes affecting the workplace. He conducts training for managers and supervisors on substantive issues, employee relations and litigation avoidance.
Tommy is respected by his colleagues and peers not just as a lawyer, but also a leader. He has served Liskow & Lewis in countless ways, but to name a few, he has served as the Firm Administration Partner and as a member of the firm's Compensation Committee, Board of Directors and Strategic Planning Committee. Tommy is the leader of Liskow’s Labor & Employment Practice group and has also been instrumental in the firm’s recruitment of law students, devoting countless hours to mentoring and leading law students and young lawyers.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Tommy is a Star Ambassador for the Volunteers of America, an organization that provides life-saving programs for the most vulnerable people in our community—children and families, the elderly, veterans, and persons with disabilities. He co-chairs Volunteers of America’s annual Reach for the Stars Breakfast, which is the organization’s primary fundraising event. Tommy is a past Board Chair for the New Orleans Speech and Hearing Center, and he currently serves on the organization’s strategic planning committee. He has also volunteered as a youth baseball coach at PAC and basketball coach at Carrollton Boosters.
