Lawyers

At Liskow, we are invested in you and your professional growth. Whether you are a seasoned professional, a recent graduate, or a professional seeking a rewarding new career path, we invite you to explore our website to learn more about what our firm has to offer.

Overview

Laterals

Integrating experienced lawyers into the firm is a key element of Liskow’s growth plan. The firm recognizes the importance of hiring highly qualified lawyers with proven records of success both academically and professionally.

Lateral hires are typically brought on board to fulfill a need in a specific section or practice area. Shareholder credit for lateral hires is considered on an individual basis and takes into account the lawyer’s area of practice, years of experience, and potential or existing client base.

Associates

Liskow is very selective in its hiring decisions, and the firm provides the necessary tools for a talented new lawyer to build a successful career.

Associate training and development is a top priority at Liskow. In addition to learning the practice of law from the best of the best, associates learn how to develop business, understand technology, and maintain good mental health. Regularly scheduled formal in-house programs, as well as day-to-day interaction with senior lawyers and clients, help associates reach their professional potential. Associates are encouraged to participate in bar association activities, educational seminars, and professional groups outside the firm.

New associates are assigned to a particular practice group, although an associate may work with lawyers outside of that section if a need or interest arises. Within any given practice area, a new associate will work for several different shareholders during the first few years to obtain a good overview of the firm’s practice. This approach allows the associate’s capabilities to be evaluated and guided by a variety of experienced practitioners. Associates are assigned a partner-mentor and are evaluated on a formal basis every six months throughout the partnership track.

A Unique Path

The firm’s first-year compensation package for associates is competitive within local markets. Associates are normally considered for advancement to shareholder status after serving as associates for seven years. The firm extends credit toward shareholder status to associates who have completed judicial clerkships. Click here for frequently asked questions about the summer associate program.
