Madeline is a business lawyer in the firm’s Houston office and handles a variety of transactional matters, including real property acquisitions and divestitures and sophisticated oil and gas projects, both onshore and offshore. She has represented clients in all phases of energy exploration, development, and production, ranging from lease drafting to complex litigation.
Madeline has experience in drafting and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, joint operating agreements, surface use agreements, access agreements, easements, mineral conveyances, and other transactional documents. She has represented landowners, commercial tenants, and energy companies in a variety of acquisitions and leases and has a broad understanding of title matters.
Madeline is familiar with, and interested in, the overlap between energy law and environmental law, specifically as it pertains to carbon capture and sequestration. She is also knowledgeable about various regulatory issues involving the Texas Railroad Commission and is well-versed in business entity formation and intellectual property protections. Her prior litigation experience includes but is not limited to royalty and surface use disputes, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and indemnification.
