Chelsea Fitzgerald is a business lawyer in the firm’s New Orleans office. She has experience in real estate, public finance transactions, commercial lending, non-profit tax matters, and Fair Housing defense.

Prior to joining the firm, Chelsea was an associate at the Nashville office of a DC- based law firm focused on commercial real estate, public housing authority representation, and affordable housing development. 

Chelsea previously served as a public service fellow at Southeast Louisiana Legal Services in New Orleans representing low-income clients with housing legal issues, including defending clients in eviction proceedings, preserving clients’ subsidized housing, advocating for clients’ rights, and mediating landlord-tenant conflicts.

  • Represented commercial lender in construction financing for the development of affordable housing with use of Low-Income Housing Tax Credits and Multifamily Revenue Bonds.
  • Regularly represented nonprofit lender in construction and term loan financing for the development of affordable housing.
  • Regularly represented nonprofit in sales of real property in conjunction with land banks and land trusts.
  • Represented developer of affordable housing in the acquisition of land and construction financing of 75 units of affordable housing assisted by Low-Income Housing Tax Credits.
  • Represented large metropolitan public housing authority in the development of mixed-income housing assisted by Section 8 Project-Based Vouchers and Low-Income Housing Tax Credits.

"I love hosting my friends for dinner parties. I lived in Spain for a year before law school, so my go-to dish is paella. I cook it in a 3 ft. wide wok, throwing in whatever fresh seafood I find at the market. It’s always a festive affair!"
