Greg L. Johnson, a shareholder in the firm’s Environmental Section, was installed as the Chair of the Environmental Law Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association at its annual meeting in Baton Rouge on May 22, 2008. Mr. Johnson has been active in the Section since his admission to the Bar and was first elected to the Section Council in 2002 and as an Officer in 2005. The LSBA Environmental Law Section hosts CLE seminars, writes recent development updates for the Louisiana Bar Journal, and sponsors an annual essay contest for law students writing on environmental topics. Mr. Johnson participated in the essay contest while he was a law student, and his essays were twice selected for awards.

Mr. Johnson advises and counsels companies in administrative, litigation, and transactional matters. Issues upon which he offers guidance include the performance of environmental audits, pursuit of various environmental permits, and disclosure of enforcement issues to federal and state governmental agencies. Prior to practicing law, he was a consulting environmental engineer concentrating on permitting, emissions estimation, reporting, modeling and compliance issues. He continued his engineering practice while attending law school, and can draw upon this experience when assisting clients with complex technical issues.
