Jana Grauberger joined Liskow & Lewis in 1998 and practices energy and commercial litigation in the firm’s Houston office. She has experience in all types of oil and gas matters, including royalty disputes involving private and public royalty owners, as well as federal royalty proceedings involving offshore Gulf of Mexico properties, pipeline expropriation, joint operating agreement issues, franchisee/franchisor litigation under the Petroleum Marketing Practices Act, and other oil and gas industry business disputes. In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. Grauberger also provides advice and counsel to federal lessees concerning offshore matters, including interpretation of and compliance with federal statutes and regulations that fall under the purview of the Department of Interior's Minerals Management Service.

Ms. Grauberger practices before state and federal district and appeals courts in Texas and Louisiana.  Her litigation experience includes extensive motion practice, as well as participation in jury and bench trials, and she has successfully defended judgments in favor of clients on numerous occasions in the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.  She also has experience in mediation and arbitration.

Recent successes include:

  • Successfully obtained summary judgment in favor of client in a contract dispute concerning the potential sale of oil and gas properties.
  • Obtained a federal court ruling in her client’s favor denying statutory attorney fees to a gas station franchisee in a franchisor/franchisee dispute.
  • Successfully arbitrated an investor dispute with the arbitrator finding that the investment company breached its fiduciary duty to her client and was grossly negligent in the investment of his funds.

Jana is a member of the firm’s Recruiting Committee and its Diversity Committee, and she heads the firm’s recruiting efforts for the Houston office.  She currently serves on the Board of the Women's Energy Network of Houston (Vice-President, 2009 and President, 2010), and chaired the group's 2008 Charity Lunch, which raised $100,000 for Community Family Centers Los Ninos Early Childhood Education Program.

Prior to joining Liskow & Lewis, Ms. Grauberger served as a law clerk to the Honorable Walter F. Marcus, Jr., Associate Justice, Supreme Court of Louisiana.  Before attending law school, she worked as a television reporter for KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
