Michael A. Golemi Shareholder, Houston
After beginning his practice with the firm in New Orleans, Mr. Golemi moved to Houston in 2005 to open the firm’s Houston office. His litigation practice focuses on maritime, casualty, toxic tort, insurance coverage, and products liability law. Mr. Golemi also has experience in business litigation, construction law and litigation, and labor and employment law-related matters.
He has defended several offshore death cases as well as numerous personal injury cases involving the Jones Act, the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act (LHWCA), and state workers’ compensation statutes. He has also handled platform and oil well property damage litigation, cargo claims, construction defect cases, chemical exposure cases, class action litigation, and mass casualty lawsuits. He has recently been extensively involved in analyzing issues arising under the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 in connection with the Deepwater Horizon Incident. His business litigation experience includes contract disputes, and he has successfully resolved professional employment and non-competition disputes for labor and employment clients.
In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Golemi assists clients with review and drafting of offshore contracts, focusing on indemnity and insurance issues. He also advises clients on day-to-day employment law issues arising in the operation of their businesses. Mr. Golemi is also experienced with appellate matters and alternative dispute resolution.
Mr. Golemi joined the firm in 1999 and has practiced before numerous state and federal courts in Texas and Louisiana. He has been recognized by his colleagues as a Texas Rising Star in Texas Super Lawyers
